Real McCoy Burgers & Pizza

This place has the best Pizza and Burgers in town period. Exclamation! However, I can understand some of the concerns of others who have written reviews for this place. I find that a couple of the older European guys don't really understand what cross contamination is, so your best hope is to get one of the younger workers to make your burger. They always wash their hands after handling meat. If you find yourself confronted by one of the older guys just get pizza, which they never screw up. Or just go on Friday or Saturday night when there is more people working there and the owner makes sure everything is up to par.

Honestly, this place is really really good and like all small places there might be a problem here or there. But 98% of the time I go there I've been really impressed and satisfied with the food. And I go once every week or two, so I know what to expect.

I've eaten here for ages and will keep going back. The Mojo burger is a definite regular of mine and I always get their onion rings because they're home-made and absolutely delicious. Also whenever I'm in the mood for a pizza this is the real McCoy(I know, corny joke but it's so true) they beat all those crappy Pizza chain restaurants. Their pizza absolutely rules.

While Im sure many others enjoy the food at the Real McCoy, my husband and I tried it last night and walked away with a bad stomach ache. The problem with a lot of places that sell burgers (unless its regulated like McDonalds or Burger King) is that the person handles the raw meat patty and then handles the bun and fixings. This is serious cross contamination. I actually called the Real McCoy and asked them very nicely, if they do this, or at least have two people to deal with the burgers. They said they dont normally touch the raw patty and then the bun. Well, we took a chance and when we ordered, the man behind the counter, reached underneath to get 2 raw patties, put them on the grill, and then handled the buns. He saw us watching him (we were not rude about it) and proceeded to quickly rinse his right hand with water (only). Then he made up our burgers and handled our money. Im only writing to let you know that we should have just walked away when we saw this occur. I truly had a very upset stomach all night and continuing to this morning. Doesnt anyone follow basic health rules in food places, regardless if its a small mom & pop place? I am very disappointed and angry.
