Last week my husband and I gave this restaurant a try after more than a year since it first opened. The restaurant is much smaller than we expected and the layout is quite odd. We were seated in a narrow rectangular-shaped room near the entrance and found the décor is really dull and plain. Walls are all painted in black and a Christmas wreath is being hung up on the wall in April! The bench seating is really uncomfortable as the tables are so close to each other that you could hardly avoid the loud talking from people sitting next to you. We ordered our favourite foie gras and a doz. of fresh oysters to start, followed by the dinner special they promoted (sirloin steak and a big shrimp) and the lamb shank. Quite honestly, the food was above the standard for a Chinese- run western style restaurant in the area and the garnishing was quite impressive. We were also lucky that our food came fast and super hot and the service was good and friendly. However, we took off right after we finished the dinner as the 4 women sitting close to us were talking real loud and too much that we could not stand any further. The bill came up to $85 which is within our limit for some gourmet food, however we both found that the place/decor of the restaurant do not really match with the superior food they serve, not to mention prices. We felt like we were eating at a Cha Chan Tang while paying for the price of a high end dining restaurant. Although the experience at this restaurant was not a bad one; we will definitely not be going back for special occasions as the atmosphere had somehow ruined our romantic evening.
